Pancakes and Pajamas: Sister Birthday Party
Planning our girls' 2nd and 4th birthday party was a fun way to spend the otherwise gloomy month of January. Our girls are a month apart (mid-January & mid-February) and we were all excited to have one big celebration.
Saturday mornings in our household typically involve pancakes (& pajamas!) -- so why not invite a bunch of toddlers over to join in on the fun + celebrate our birthday girls? :)
A few favorites on the menu: pancakes (of course), yogurt + granola, mini quiche, mini muffins, & fruit. We made the pancakes the night before (& warmed them in the oven right before guests arrived) to make it easier for a morning party.
For birthday cake, the girls enjoyed funfetti birthday cake pancakes inspired by this recipe and this recipe.
I was excited to find these plates, napkins, and cups to coordinate with the party invitation + decor.
We are so thankful it was a sunny, February morning and the kids could run around outside after enjoying breakfast. I set up a few activity "stations" to keep the kids entertained:
- Coloring sheets from this Etsy shop
- Decorate a paper pancake stickers and jewels
- Make a fruit loop necklace
I loved using these gold, acrylic frames on the activity tables.
A classic party favorite was jumping in the pink bounce house our family has enjoyed over the last year.
For decor, used a combination of balloons from different kits (like this pink + gold one, this blue one, this green one, & this pink + orange one) to make a few balloon displays around our house. As you can see, our girls LOVED helping with the balloons in the days leading up to the party :)
When deciding on party favors, I wanted them to be both practical and something that my girls enjoy. I customized placemats (designed by Fernandina Paper Co.) with each toddler's name, laminated them, and attached mini dry-erase markers. Our oldest, Adair, loves to practice writing her name, so she was especially excited to gift the personalized placemats to her friends.
It was a fun morning celebrating our girls -- "Pancakes and Pajamas" style -- with our dear friends + family!
